Let's get Spooky

Hey VOICES member,

It's been a while since we have gotten together, so let's meet and considering it is close to Halloween, how about we get in the booth and record something scary.  We're looking to use the recording area at Studio24 so folks can get a feel of what it's like to record in a booth.  Also, in the process, we'll go over some mic techniques and cover recording basics with recording software such as Audacity.  If you have something Halloween related you'd like to read from, feel free to bring it in.  Please keep 'em at or under 60 seconds so we can try to give everyone a shot.  Luis and Jon will be on hand to answer questions and assist in the process.

We hope to see you there.

Cheers,

The VOICES crew

Everyone did great! It was awesome to hear everyone step up to the mic and take on the challenge of recording The Raven.

So, one idea with this Meetup was perhaps do a recordings of The Raven. If we could get folks to record each part of the poem, then I could piece it together and post on the web for Halloween . Any thoughts? Here is a link to the Raven to check out. http://poestories.com/read/rave...

Jon, Have you looked at my reply via your Meet-Up organizer address? I'll record at Studio 24 at the meeting, if that'sstill an option for us. Thanks. I can read any section you need with either typical Poe-relevant voice or with a more obscure poetry reading by Bullwinkle.

The Raven reading is an option, but I'd like to use natural voices relavent to the feeling of the poem. If you prefer to record something else at the Meetup, feel free to do so.

I really do want to come but with the amount of homework I still have left (including recordings for my voice, diction & dialects class) I really should stay home and work. This is a really cool idea though and I hope you'll post something like this again in the future. I'm free from Dec 20th til about Jan 20th :)

Are you going to assign parts or just have us learn the whole thing? I'm down with either way

Rachael, it might be best to not assign sections since it is possible that someone might now show. Just look over the poem and select your fav sections.

Sorry I can't be there--I am working. But I have a great idea if you are interested in creating a story string...
