In fairness, I think the complaints are due to the fact that this has been the NW DC meetup group. Those of us living in DC are not likely to travel an hour to Gaithersburg or beyond to play pickup volleyball for a fee. Especially not on a weeknight.
If anyone finds an indoor place, in the city to play when the weather turns. I will be there. I may even check out the Bethesda space. Thank you for organizing volleyball opportunities, unfortunately many of the players residing in NW DC may not be able to attend.

Dear NW DC/MD VB Meetup members,

It is your choice to NOT participate or to come out.  However, on Thursdays at Upper County Community Center in Gaithersburg, we are running about 18 players per night.  We have distinct groups who show up...........a Masters seniors group, our winter coed team, a team that plays at the Rockville Sportsplex, sundry college and former HS varsity players.  If all show up at once, that gym could be overrun.  Or not.  However, before this January, 8 months ago, this gym had NO volleyball program.......none, for over two years.

Once we hit an average of 24-28 players, we will be at capacity.  We have two courts to use but for now we tend to play three teams of sixes.  Once we hit 20 or more, we will open up the second court so all can play all the time that we have the gym.  We have cooling fans and music a la iPOD and the camaraderie of good sportmanship and competition.  All levels of players are represented.  Carries, lifts and such ARE frowned upon, though.

The point is this;  we are thriving in one location.  I want to open up two, three, four sites each week to keep you all moving, motivated and exercising regularly.  Mondays will be available at either Leland CC from 630 until 930 pm or at Bauer Rec Center from 6 until 10 pm.  Wednesdays are at Longwood but they only have ONE court.  Fairland is also open on Thursday nights if you do not wish to travel to Gburg.  So far, Leland CC in Bethesda is the only one thus far that is Metro accessible.

So, before you complain about no one coming out, please motivate yourself to come out and check us out, OK?  If not, you only have yourself to blame.  Please join us.....especially those of you who are up county and near to Gaithersburg.

IF you all want social interactions then I can find us local watering holes for after games to rehydrate.  If we show up regularly, likely I can negotiate us a group discount....  Let me know what you want in that regard.

++ Upper County re opens on August 28th from 730 to 930 pm.
++ Leland Comm Center opens up September 8th from 630 to 930 pm.
++ Bauer Rec Center re opens up in late August and runs Mondays from 6 to 10 pm.
++ Longwood Rec Center re opens up August 20th from 6 pm until 9 pm.

Pick one and come out to play..........
or not.  The choice is yours.

For all these gyms, all you will need is a gym ACCESS card that is also a photo ID...  In county cost is $15 per calendar year.  Out of county is $25 per calendar year.  Your participation is welcomed and desired.
