Nashville Walks

Benefits Nashville Children's Alliance - A child advocacy center

Nashville Walks: May 18, 2013

Nashville Children’s Alliance will hold its annual 5K walk at Centennial Park on May 18, 2013. We will be working in partnership for a full day of activities for children and families known at The NashVitality Family Festival focusing upon awareness of children’s health and the benefits of an active lifestyle and nutritious food.  Activities begin with Nashville Walks at 9:00 AM and continue throughout the day.

Nashville Walks for Nashville’s Children will not only help raise awareness of child sexual and physical abuse, but also raise funds to support and sustain the work of the Nashville Children’s Alliance.

Adults: $35, college students: $15, teens/children: $10

Pre-registration online is closed, but you can register when you arrive, preferably between 8 and 8:15am.

Yes, registration starts at 8. I emailed everyone my number. You probably can't miss me though. I will have a double stroller with 1 & 3 year old girls :)

This walk starts off an all-day celebration that includes the NashVitality Family Festival and the Kids Triathalon. If you would rather volunteer than walk, please see Michelle's listing for this group - looks like the triathalon needs aLOT of volunteers :)

I just saw this site and joined. I am a psychologist/ professional counselor that has worked with abuse in several capacities for over 30 years? I am interested in the 5K, but need to know if there is any type of training for this, or do we just do that on our own? I guess I just need some more information in general--I may b able to bring someone with me.

Hi Beth, it is just a 5K walk, not run, and no one greets you at the finish line like other events :) In past years, my kids were very young and we often just did a few laps then left. It's more of a fundraiser than a "you better finish this walk" kind of thing. Hope that helps!

Is there an age limit? I would like my 14 year old to attend with me.

The walk is 5K. The entire event is outside in centennial park so dogs are welcome.

I would love to attend. Please clarify if you can bring kids and dogs. I will walk either way but would love to get my son involved as well.

Yes, sorry... I do not get updates for this meetup (yet) so I didn't realize so many folks signed up... thanks! I posted it to find attendees (walkers), but if I hear of NCA needing volunteers I will definitely add that in the description.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
