Road Trip: Tilghman Island Seafood Festival

Are there any crab meat junkies in our membership? Or other seafood? John Switzer has suggested we do a club road trip to the Eastern Shore, for the annual Tilghman Island Seafood Festival on June 28th. Tilghman Island is near St. Michaels, and is called the home of Maryland's seafood industry.

This event is free, so why not? It's another opportunity to get to meet our fellow members who don't get to the DIYs. Plus if you're a seafood fan, there'll be lots to eat, and it'll be fun to have a Volvo show of force at this event. Who knows, maybe with all our Volvos we might get into the small-town newspaper! One more thing for your Volvo scrapbook. And even if you're just a fan of see-food (e.g. you see food, and you eat it), come out for fun and food on the shore.

According to Mapquest, these are the directions: Rt. 50 East over Bay Bridge (there's a toll for the bridge going east) - Take slight right at MD-322 South, go about 2 miles - Right turn at MD 33 West - St. Michaels Rd, stay on it for roughly 22 miles until you reach the Tilghman Island drawbridge.

John Switzer, our host for this event, says: Come enjoy the Land of Pleasant Living up close. Steamed crabs, raw & fried oysters, all kinds of good stuff! Vendors with Eastern Shore memories available. Lots of really nice folks, and come meet The Toad (aka John's PV544) & Jakob! If you can come for the Festival, we should gather at Mike & Eric's Bay Hundred Restaurant around 2 PM and compare notes.  They're located to the right just before you cross the drawbridge and the deck is perfect for watching boat traffic through Knapps Narrows. The most important thing is to get to Tilghman Island around 10 AM; have a look about and enjoy the food; go to Dogwood Harbor and watch [or take part in] the events. See the postings below for more tips!

Love to attend, however this is the biggest day of the 44th annual Morgan meet (in Luray, VA). Depends on weather and other factors; probably only 10% chance of attending at Bay Hundred (a great place!).

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
