Do-It-Yourself Session at Euro Motorcars Volvo of Bethesda (formerly Martens)

The Washington Volvo Club (WVC) continues the 2013 DIY series with a Do-It-Yourself (DIY) technical session at Euro Motorcars Volvo of Bethesda (formerly Martens Volvo) in Bethesda, MD from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Saturday, November 9, 2013. Their service department’s location is 5206 River Road, Bethesda, MD 20816. Please note that Euro Motorcars’ service department is NOT located in the same building as their main showroom on Wisconsin Avenue in DC!

Euro Motorcars Volvo recently began offering Saturday service for their customers, and WVC will have the use of a limited number of their lifts. We hope to attract an active group who will accomplish normal maintenance tasks. Euro Motorcars Volvo master technician Rick Deitz will be on hand to answer our questions and give us guidance as we work on our own Volvos with our own tools. Euro Motorcars technicians are NOT there to fix your car. They offer guidance only.

Euro Motorcars’ parts department will be open during the DIY session, and WVC requires you to use it for the parts you need during the session. Remember that Euro Motorcars grants a generous discount on genuine Volvo parts to all WVC members showing a current membership card. We strongly recommend that you contact their parts department at least a week in advance of the DIY session, to ensure that they’ll have all the parts you’ll need, and/or to allow for any parts that have to be special ordered to be delivered in time for the DIY.

This DIY is not intended for major repairs that cannot be completed within the allocated time period. All participants in this event must bring their own tools, and do their own work. We encourage our Members who are not yet on the lifts to help out when an extra pair of hands is needed, and we’re always happy to show newcomers the joys of simple maintenance activities.

Participation is on a strict preregistration basis through WVC only; please do NOT contact EuroMotorcars Volvo for this purpose. You may preregister by completing all items on a registration form and mailing it, along with a non-refundable fee of $20, or registering on this page and paying by PayPal.  The registration period is October 9 to November 2, with late registration from November 3 thru 8. Keep in mind that we cannot guarantee there will be room for you if you register late, and if we can accommodate you, the registration fee will be $35. If you mail your payment, your check should be made payable to Washington Volvo Club. Remember that WVC doesn't allow walk-up registrations at DIYs anymore, so if you want to participate, then be sure to get your registration in ASAP!

This is the only DIY at Euro Motorcars Volvo this year. Please think of your maintenance requirements, preregister early, and join us at this great location. WVC has set a limit on preregistration and we will be giving preference to those who get their registrations in early.

agree with david, marten's always was a productive session, thanks largely to Rick's expertise and knack for "how to" explanations. I particularly like what the new GM said about possibly increasing their participation from one to two sessions a year. Onward and upward.

Got everything done, Rick was helpful as always. Enjoyed meeting the new GM, very sharp and knowledgeable guy. I think the old Martens is in good hands with EMV.
