As we prepare for our meeting in Brooklyn tonight, we have some exciting news for you; voterbook is expanding.

Our members come from all over the city, with the highest concentration in Manhattan and Brooklyn. To this end, we plan to convert this group into voterbook Manhattan and create a voterbook Brooklyn. Our goal will be to have one in every borough and then also create chapters in other cities around the country. This comes from our belief that politics are best organized locally.

Since January 2007 when Dr. Raj Khandwalla started our group as, we have achieved what one of our members commented: "the perfect combination of politics and fun." We hope to continue this trend with your support.

For those members who are from boroughs outside manhattan, please consider becoming an organizer for voterbook in your community. If you are interested, please contact [address removed] and I will guide you through what I know to help get you started (the benefits, the drawbacks and the know-how). If you wish to take a less active role, then please remain a member of this group until we announce the URLs of the new borough chapters of voterbook.

Our first meeting under the "voterbook manhattan" group name, will be this Saturday in Union Square. The event will focus on petitioning - one of the best ways to get a tan, make new friends, and suppost a local politician. Event details are here:

When: June 27,[masked]:00 PM - 4:00 PM

Where: Union Square
Union Square West (just south of Toastie's by the Ghandi Statue)
New York, NY 10003

Please RSVP early so we can get a good headcount to let the political candidates know our numbers. We guarantee the fun if you will join us.

Dr. Nina Agrawal, one of our former organizers and co-founder of, asked that we send out this timely message concerning the movement for affordable health care:

Health Care for America NOW is organizing FREE buses. Few spots left! Reserve your seat and be part of history. Meet at Union Square at 5:30AM. Return at 8:00 PM. Contact [address removed] ASAP.
(Looking for VIDEOGRAPHER to document this historic event and others.)
