I'm the president of the French Theatrical Foundation, which is promoting French theatre in the United States. Next Friday through Sunday, we will be presenting a one-woman show about Marie-Antoinette at The Modern Theatre in Boston, and I thought this might make for a great (if last minute) meetup. Here's some information about the show:

Marie-Antoinette, In Her Own Words
With just 3 Boston performances, from Friday, October 18 through Sunday, October 20, discover the inner life of this misunderstood icon as Molière Award-winning actress Barbara Schulz takes you on Marie-Antoinette's fascinating journey from teenage bride in an arranged marriage to desperate and broken queen, hours before her execution. This one-woman show, presenting a vivid portrayal of this legendary figure is directed by gifted French director, Katherine Adamov, and written by Marie-Antoinette historian Evelyne Lever using the queen's personal letters. The play will be presented in French with English supertitles.

Tickets are $35, but meetup members will receive a special $5 discount per ticket for the Friday (Oct. 18) or Saturday evening (Oct. 19) performances. Just select the $30 ticket price when checking out, and mention the meetup price if asked at the door. Tickets and more information can be found here:

I assure you this will be an exceptional evening of theatre, and I hope that you'll take advantage of this special pricing.  Come and introduce yourself after the show!

Je suis desolee, I had to change my plans and saw the performance today. Very impressive, indeed.
Be prepared to rely on your French as the subtitles lag behind on occasion. Bonne soiree!

I suggest everyone meet up in the lobby area at the base of the stairs before the show. I’m the producer, so I’ll be running around like a crazy person, but I’d be delighted to greet everyone.

Here's a little more about this production:

"This vivid portrayal, based on French historian Evelyne Lever’s acclaimed biography, sheds light on the inner life of this fascinating figure, drawing directly from letters, diaries, and first-hand accounts.

Actress Barbara Schulz brilliantly embodies the iconic queen, from her lavish wedding to Louis XVI at the age of fourteen, to her final hours facing the guillotine, desperate, broken, and alone. The gripping narrative traverses court intrigue, scandal, loneliness, peasant riots, the fall of the Bastille, mob rule in Paris, imprisonment, and finally, execution. Dispelling the myth of a callous and villainous queen whose supposed response to her subjects was the comment, “Let them eat cake,” Marie-Antoinette, In Her Own Words instead paints a more nuanced portrait: that of a vulnerable and ultimately tragic figure, heedlessly thrust into the vast currents of historic upheaval, whose repercussions continue to resonate today."
