I thought it would be fun to walk some radial routes from the centre of London covering all the main tube lines (doing so above ground).
the walks will be......
(always the same time) - the last sunday or each month at 11.45am
(always the same start pt) - Charles I's horse, 50m south of Nelson's columns
(always welcome) - i'd like it to be about exploring London + meeting people
Each walk starts at the central measurement point in London (which is a plaque in Trafalgar Square), and then walking for 2 / 2.5 hours roughly above the relevant tUbe lline and passing the relevant tube stops on the way. It'll end with a pub / cafe lunch and then return home by tube/bus.
In addition to these radial walks there will be 2 walks around the the circle line in 2 halves. So the idea is to explore the different areas of central London over a 12 monthly period though obviously there is no committment to come to all walks.
The inspiration came last summer when I took a notion to walk from Tooting Bec tube into Trafalgar Square. I was amazed at the variety of areas that i walked through and it took less than 2 hours, passing the various tube stations on the way.
Feedback and ideas welcome.
I will share these with the MeetUP group on a regular basis.
Many thanks. Diarmuid
