Aug 23 - Change Tower Grove Park Walk and Festival of Nations

  • This location is shown only to members

Meet at the Flag Pole at 9:30 AM sharp. It is located in the circle on Center Cross Drive.

Due to the high heat index I am changing this walk to just going to the Festival.  After we meet will stroll down to the festival area and enjoy the festivities.

After our walk you can attend the Festival of Nations or browse Tower Grove Farmer's Market just west of the Pool Pavilion in the center of the Park. Market times are 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM For info call:[masked]

We attended this in 2009, 2011 and 2012 and I think everyone had a good time -- International Institute’s Festival of Nations is St. Louis leading multicultural celebration featuring: •traditional dance and music, •ethnic food, •cultural and educational exhibits, •folk art demonstrations, •and an international market. http://www.festivalofnationsstl.org/

To get directions use this search "Center Cross Drive, 63116" on Google Maps http://maps.google.com/

What to bring: - WATER – THIS IS IMPORTANT ALL YEAR LONG AND ESPECIALLY IN THE WARMER MONTHS. WE WILL USUALLY BE OUT FOR AT LEAST 1 ½ HOURS AND THAT IS TOO LONG TO GO WITHOUT REPLENISHING THE LIQUIDS THAT YOU WILL BE BURNING WHILE WALKING. – I AVOID DRINKING CAFFEINATED BEVERAGES BEFORE WALKING. THE ARE A LOT OF GOOD ARTICLES ABOUT “effects of caffeine and exercise” ON THE INTERNET OR ASK YOU DOCTOR.

- During hot weather wear clothing that is light weight, light colored and loose fitting and drink plenty of water. Wear a hat.

- I recommend broken in hiking shoes over Tennis shoes. A lot of the trails are over loose gravel and dirt and the treads on the hiking boots work much better. - Snacks – EAT LIGHTLY BEFORE THE WALK AND BRING A POWER BAR OR SNACK TO MUNCH ON DURING THE WALK. Meetup Donation:

Meetup charges me $72 every six months to have the Walking site. If you would like to donate $1 at some of the walks, it will be appreciated. Greg Kluempers
