Walk Around Lake Union 11k and Kayak at Moss Bay

We're going to walk around Lake Union with the option to go kayaking about half way, at Moss Bay just before Chandler's and MOHAI. If you purchased the Groupon, be sure to bring your voucher.

This is a scenic and interesting walk around Seattle's in-city recreational and industrial Lake Union. Get upfront and close with everything that floats, from canoes to yachts to houseboats to floatplanes. The south end of the Lake features a growing collection of restaurants, as well as the Center for Wooden Boats. We'll walk over two drawbridges and along several piers, as well as old railroad right-of-way. And, before you finish, you'll enjoy the J.P. Patches and Gertrude sculpture. There are public restrooms near the beginning, and other facilities at restaurants along the way.

Entrance to the store is on the north side of building, facing 34th St. Do not park in the store's lot. Free street parking on Burke Ave & Meridian Ave.

I'll be coming from the Eastside and doing the walk and kayak. Would be happy to drive and can take 3 more carpoolers.

I can meet you at Totem Travel. Will you be taking I-90? I usually take 520 when we go to the Fisheries Supply store.

Totem Travel works for me; what's the address?

I called the kayak place and they do have shelves where we can store shoes and other things we don't want to bring on the boats. They also have dry bags if you have valuables to take on the water.

If you want to carpool that would be great. :) I am waiting to RSVP because I'm recovering from a back injury. Hoping to get the thumbs up from physical therapist by the 28th to go.

    • Ann

I won't be able to go. :( The physical therapist said walking that far isn't good right now for me. I hope to meet everyone as soon as I'm feeling better.

How long does it usually take to do the walk?

    August 22

    • Joy

It usually takes us about 2 hours to walk 11 km, plus 2 hours for kayaking makes 4 hours if you do both.

      Thank you Joy

I'd like to go for the walk only and carpool if possible. Is anyone coming from Redmond or Kirkland by chance?

  • Bonnie

    August 2

    • Joy

All rentals are 1st come 1st serve; they don't take reservations.

Where can we rent a kayak?

  • MaryAnn

I can't make the walk but I'm wondering if there is a walk box with a map inside the store so that I can do it at a later time?

    July 31

    • Joy

There is a walk box and I believe the store is open until 6pm on weekdays.

      July 31

  • Joy

If anyone wants to finish the walk with us (and not kayak) you could start around 5pm.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
