Saturday Walk at Lake Harriet - meet at Dunn Brothers Linden Hills

This walk is held every other Saturday. Mark your calendars and come out for some fresh air and exercise and meetup with friends!

Meet at Dunn Bros Coffee Shop in Linden Hills. Do not park in their lot, and also be aware that street parking right in front of the shop has a short time limit. Just go around the corner for unlimited parking.

Meet at 12:30 and start walking by 12:45. That will give you time to get a hot beverage to take on your walk with you.

Join us for an afternoon walk around beautiful Lake Harriet. 2.75 miles ~ 45 mins to go around once. Some people in the group may wish to walk longer.

If you haven't signed up but want to join, that's great! Please come...the more, the merrier!

If there is interest, this meetup can be changed to a weekly walk.

It's understandable yo coldn't find ud. We were only six people and we were watching the kites, etc. And although we came to front of the bandshell at about 1:05 we did not recognize you and you couldn't yet recognize us (it looks liek this was your frist or scond walking event??) I'm sure I'mnot the only one impressed you made such an effort to meetup and I for one am sorry we did not see you. If you want to (next time) email and/or call one of the people attending your next event we/they could be sure to connect with you.

You are a proverbial 'trooper' for tryting so hard to connect!

So apparently 16 RSVP'd: six showed up (Ken, Pat D. Kerry, Tom B Edward and Bonnie came, too), and two canceled (Jim and Carol unRSVP'd) We we waited for the rest of you who didn't bother to unRSVP. The weather was downright balmy by January standards, 30 degrees or more. We were treated to a celebration of Kites, the annual East Harriet Kite Festival. Some of the kites were 20 feet wide and held by stakes in the ice. There were other great kites, a few kite skiers and ice racers and over 400 people milling around listening to music, sipping free cocoa and then there were us 6 hardy souls who walked around the lake. The wind was strong as we walked the east side but overall surprisingly nice weather (so maybe the weatherman will be right later about that there below zero thing, but we were all pleasantly surprised.)

The kite festival is an annual thing. Next year look it up at eastharriet.org and plan on it. It is nice to have some winter stuff that you don't see everyday.

Sorry that I missed the group. I was unable to pick out the Meetup group from the large throng of people there. You are right that it was a very nice day and the kites were very interesting. I had a nice, solitary walk. Next time.

Well, "Tom C.", You are one of those people who are on a social Meetup group without having recent close up photos where we could actually recognize you. With all due respect, and while I don't want to start our frindship by being sarcastic, how is that quasi anonymous, photolss thing working for ya? (wink, tease, sorry to for the sarcasm) If you don't have a recent close up photo to share and post and recognize, email and/or call me or another friend and we can take some to post on your page.

First I couldn't find you. Then I did. But lost you again. But I loved being there - so thanks for the tip about the kites.

    Hi there,
I arrived the meeting place by the lake at 1:03pm and waited till 1:10pm before starting to walk along the lake twice as I could not find your guys. There were several signages on top of tables there but none of them looked like for our group,...
Sorry for missing all of you today and see you next time.
Stay warm and have a fantastic weekend.

Good morning, I'm sorry this is last minute, but my niece has an important basketball at the same time, so I won't be able to make it. Enjoy.

Instead paying to park in the 2 lots adjacent to the bandshell area try the on street parking just a block or two west of the bandshell, just across the railroad/trolley tracks. Also, on these cold days it might be wise (I.e. warmer) to meet at a coffee shop in Linden Hills, a few blocks west of the lake at the 44th and Upton Avenue area.

Good idea on the warm meeting spot. Let's change it to Dunn Brothers. I'll send out an email.

I think they are flying kites that day on Lake Harriet from noon to 4PM.

Thank you so much Bonnie, for catching that. It would be an interesting walk, but maybe parking near the Bandshell would be difficult. Should we reschedule for earlier? Reschedule for Sunday? or walk during the Kite Festival and arrive early to find parking?
