CULVER's STREET ADDRESS: 3340 Shoreline Drive, Orono, MN 55391, Culver's PH #[masked]
Culver's also shares space with the HOLIDAY Gas Station (same bldg), & is conveniently located near the Trail (about 1 block off the trail).
WHERE TO PARK:
Parking is available all around Culver's. You'll notice a Snyders right next to Culvers that is now closed (went out of business); Culvers and Snyders share this parking lot. There's a Lunds kitty corner across the street, diagonally from Culvers, which has a Park & Ride for MTC buses, (the "outer perimeter" of Lund's parking lot), so it's OK to park there, too.
RESTROOM FACILITIES AVAILABLE at Culver's/Holiday...
(There are NO "porta-potties" along the trail; Also, there are a few Trash Cans along the way, if you would like to walk your dog with us..... need to clean up after your pet!)
There are benches along the Trail to sit & rest at when needed!!
We can walk for as LONG or for as SHORT, as anyone wants to.... If we head East, that is towards Wayzata (from Culver's Wayzata is still about 6 miles away)...& West is towards Mound (about 2 1/2 miles).
DAKOTA REGIONAL TRAIL "DETAILS/FACTS":
5 am - sunset
Dakota Trail is a 13.5 mile regional multi-use trail that follows the former Dakota Railroad corridor from St. Bonifacious, through Minnetrista, Mound, Spring Park, Minnetonka Beach, Orono, & lastly Wayzata.
10-foot wide, paved-surface trail, nice for Walking, Biking, In-line Skating, Jogging. Is "Striped" with a painted, dotted line down the middle. Trail has 3-foot wide grass shoulders on either side of the trail.
FUN MISC. TRAIL "FACTS":
The Trail is Especially BEAUTIFUL from Wayzata up to the Culver's, along that 6 -mile stretch. You can see a few different bays of water along the way, off-shoots from Lake Minnetonka.
Lots of wild birds, foxes, deer, racoons, & WILD TURKEYS, too!! (I've SEEN 'EM MYSELF)!! There are a few "Marsh" type areas too, where you can try & spot wildlife.
Many "famous" people live out here.... in fact, one home that people pass along the Trail belongs to Irwin Jacobs, the financial guy....also the Pillsbury home is out here, so is Lorie Line's, & so on....
