3208 Allenwood Lakewood Rd, Allenwood, NJ
The sun is shining (sometimes) and the birds are singing (far too early) so let's do a midday walk! We will meet at the Allenwood General Store in Wall Township and do an approximately 1 1/2 mile walk west to Allaire State Park along the bike trail. At Allaire, we'll walk around the village and past the Pine Creek Railroad before heading back up the trail. The whole walk will be between 3 and 4 miles. For those who want to stay, we'll stop in the General Store at the end of the walk for lunch, a hot drink or a snack. However, you might also want to bring a snack and/or drink for the walk since we might hang out in the park for a bit. (Nancy - brownies are an option! ) The General Store is well worth a visit, being a combination snack bar, general store and funky mixture of antiques and collectibles. You will be amazed and delighted by it!
This is a great walk for slug-a-beds and newcomers to the group as well. There are always plenty of people to chat with along the way - you will definitely be made to feel welcomed!
It would be best if we don't all park in the store's small lot so look for parking in the commercial building adjacent to the store or across the street from it.
Inclement weather will cancel this walk. Look on here for cancellation notification by 10:30 if the weather is bad. You will also receive an e-mail if we have decided to cancel the walk.
