Blues on the Beach End of Summer Party

Those of you who came last Monday know we had a great time hanging out on the AP boardwalk and listening to one of our favorite blues bands – String Bean and the Stalkers.  Since this will be the end of Labor Day weekend we’d like to change things up a bit.  We will meet in Ocean Grove at our favorite badge hut and then walk down to Libby's Beach Shack In Asbury Park to listen to the band.  But as a special celebration of this summer's great walks (and Daryl's great leadership), we'll head down to the beach by the music for a beach party.  Please bring a blanket, towel or light chair to sit on and some easy finger food or dessert to share.  Drinks may be brought or purchased on the boardwalk. The walk is only about 3/4 mile long.  We realize it may be a bit awkward to walk and carry food, etc. so if you prefer, you can meet us on the beach by Second Ave. in Asbury Park (in front of Langosta Lounge) at around 6:30 - 6:45.  As with last week's walk, this is a "Choose Your Own Adventure" walk, feel free to come when you want and leave when you must.  Just let one of us know roughly what you are doing.

It will be helpful if you can let us know when you respond or through "Comments" whether you will be walking with us from Ocean Grove or meeting us on the beach.  And please - no alcohol on the beach and be sure to help clean up.  We don't want any problems.

Newbies welcome! As you will see, we are a friendly group and everyone is happy to meet newcomers.  We had several newcomers last week and all said they were enjoyed the evening greatly.

Rain will cancel.  Watch the site for cancellations if the weather is inclement; you will also be noticed by e-mail if you have registered.

Thank you Jay and Jan Bee for a wonderful night.
On our way back to Ocean Grove, Adelaida and I walked over to The Great Auditorium not knowing that they had a show going on tonight.
We got there just in time to hear and watch (yes they had all the doors open to watch) this woman, who I'm sorry I don't know who it was, end the night with "God Bless America" and this woman had an unbelievable voice and with the organ going......it was something!
I'm looking forward to Wednesday walk and looking for anyone in the Bradley Beach/Ocean Grove area that would like to walk at other times and days to please contact me
Again I enjoy walking very much
with all of you from this great and fun group!

Wow what a way to end the summer at the beach...the weather held up and the breeze along the ocean cut down the humidity...I want to thank Diane, Patty and all who brought food to share with our group of walkers this evening; very classy and thoughtful.

The String Bean and the Stalkers were awesome and I could not help and notice the many feet from within the walkers group who were in rhythm with the band this evening.

Look forward to many more life adventures with this group...all the best to each of you...Robert

Just got to O. G. Sunshine with a lot of blue in the sky. Parking is plentiful.

Well, the sun is out now and the forecast seems ok so we are going to go for it. Stringbean is going to play unless it starts to threaten. Bring some munchies to share if you'd like and meet us at the badge hut or on the boardwalk in AP. If the sand is wet, we will probably stay on the boardwalk. You can bring a towel or a chair to sit on or commandeer some space on the benches.

On the plus side, the parking should be easy tonight!

Jay and I will be making our call around 4:30 - 4:45 based on our best guess and the weather reports for the evening. Will e-mail you if we are cancelling and post it here. At the moment, it looks good for a go. Going to phone Langosta and see if I can get the word on Stringbean.

According to the weather channel, between 5:00 and 9:00 it will be cloudy with a chance of isolated thunderstorms in the area. So........
if it isn't raining by the time the event begins (allow yourself travel time though) let's meet for a nice time of good company, nice conversation and good blues music providing A.P. doesn't cancel the concert.
