Autumn Bike Ride

Last Fall we did this bike ride and stumbled upon the parks halloween preparations so hopefully we will see them again. This will be a joint event with our friends from Monmouth Rocks II.

As a joint meetup with MR2 we will take a bike ride from the Wall Municipal Complex to Allaire State Park and see all the beauty that Mother Nature is putting before us for the Autumn.

Wear appropriate clothing, bring water and a snack (if you want). Helmets and elbow/knee pads are optional and up to the rider if he/she feels comfortable wearing them. The round trip ride (taken casually) should take between 2 - 2 1/2 hours with a break at the bike trail gazebo, inside the park and a stop at the Allenwood General Store on the way back.

There are 2 hills - one is long and gradual and the second is short and steep.

And...........if everyone wants.......... we can walk around and see the sites inside the park before heading back. This will add about another 1 - 1 1/2 hours to the trip.

RAIN WILL CANCEL THIS EVENT

Nancy, Try these directions. They are right off the municipal complexes website.

    From Trenton 195 East:
    • Take Exit marked "Shore Points" -- for Route 34 South
    • Proceed through one traffic light
    • Approx. ½ mi. past light – follow circle ¾ around to Allaire Road/County #524 East (on left: Exxon Gas Station & Bel Air Golf Course)
    • Head East on Allaire Road approx. 1 mi.
    • Proceed through a traffic light
    • Turn Left after light into the Wall Township Municipal Complex – parking area behind buildings

The weather looks like it will be our favor for the ride. PLEASE be on time. Remember your water and possibly a light jacket and any money if you plan on getting something to eat or drink at the general store.

I will need help getting my bike to the starting point from my house and back. Are there any handsome male volunteers out there?

I've done this ride a few times with a number of people, who had mountain, hybrid, or rode bikes. Having more than one speed is desirable, since there are changes in grade. The path is paved, so narrow tires are not a concern.

I have a road bike. Is my bike appropriate for this ride or is a mountain bike or hybrid necessary?

    September 5, 2013

Hi Betsy...I do not know enough about the surface to tell you if or if not you can ride your road bike...I have a 2nd mountain bike that I would be glad to share with you for the day, if that would help you...I do not have a bike rack and the bike would need to be picked up in Spring Lake Heights...keep in touch and let me know if I can help you...Robert

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
