Point Pinole Walk in San Pablo

A little hilly but very gradual grades. It has a beautiful view through most of the walk and we can walk out on the fishing pier to get a panoramic view of the Bay. We never know what the temperature is going to be until we get there, so I suggest you dress in layers.

We'll meet at Starbucks after the walk (a shopping center at the intersection of Atlas Rd and Richmond Pkwy).

MEETING SPOT: The parking lot isn't that large, so you shouldn't have any trouble finding us, even if you're new.

DISTANCE: About 3.5 to 4 miles, which should take us about an hour (an hour and a half at most).

WALKING CONDITIONS: Mostly paved trail but some gravel and dirt. A little hilly but nothing drastic.

RESTROOMS: Yes. Outhouses at the entrance and about half way through the walk down by the fishing pier.

PARKING: $5 to park in the lot where we're going to meet. You can also park near the basketball court just south of the parking lot for free.

I ride there every week. There should be no fee to park. Make sure to walk out to Cooks Point, little beach and foundations from Giant homes. I will be at the A's game. This park is notorious for dogs off leash, bring pepper spray.

I've been there many, many times and never had an encounter with a dog. Although dogs walk there off leash, I've never had a problem.

July 27/28 is the Benicia Waterfront Festival - consider switching the July 20 and 27 walks and folks can check out the festival afterwards: http://www.beniciamainstreet.org/back-with-a-splash-benicia-waterfront-festival/

The problem would be parking. I used to live there.
