Announcing a new Meetup for East Bay Walkers!

What: Angel Island Walk

When: Saturday, September 11,[masked]:30 AM

Where: Angel Island - Tiburon Ferry
21 Main Street
Tiburon, CA 94920

This is everyone's favorite. A 5-mile walk on paved paths around the exterior of Angel Island with fantastic views of the bay. There are a few challenging hills but not as many as you might think.

You need to be at the Ferry landing prior to its departure at 10:00. You can take ferries from other locations around the bay but this one is the cheapest and the easiest.

If anyone is willing to organize carpools to Tiburon, please send me an email.

We usually go to Sam's Cafe for lunch after the walk, but we may try something else this time.

MEETING PLACE: 21 Main Street, Tiburon, CA 94920. This is the ferry landing (a small dock) that you won't see from Main Street but you can see the sign. You walk between two buildings and you're there.

FERRY: Adults are $13.50 roundrip from Tiburon to Angel Island via The Angel Island-Tiburon Ferry. You can buy tickets on the ferry. There is no admission fee on Angel Island. This ferry runs every hour so whenever we're done we should be able to catch a ferry within a short period of time.

PARKING: About $16 in the public parking lot on Tiburon Blvd. You'll see it on your left just before you reach the end of the street. Or, you can just make a u-turn at the end of the street and it's on your right. You can park up the street much cheaper at either Chase Bank (1535 Tiburon Boulevard) or Bank of America (1601 Tiburon Boulevard) on weekends for $5 all day. Just bring exact change because there's no attendant.

DISTANCE: 5 miles around the perimeter of the island. It should take us 2 1/2 to 3 hours.

HIKING CONDITIONS: They have a variety of trails, but the paved road around the island is the easiest to navigate and has great views of the Bay.
