We will start at the Starbucks next to the Palace Hotel. At 10:40 AM we will leave there to enter the New Montgomery Street entrance of the Palace Hotel. Inside we will look at the small exhibit on President Warren G. Harding, who died in the hotel in 1923, which is at the South end of the main hallway. Then we will walk North on the hallway to the North exit of the hotel at 10:55 AM, which is next to their fine restrooms. We will cross Market Street to Post and continue on Post to the Mechanic's Institute to look inside for 5 minutes then continue on Post again to Grant Avenue, and then walk Grant through Chinatown. One may purchase a lunch at Starbucks or at a cafe that we will visit near the summit of Russian Hill just before having a short lunch break. We walked Russian Hill 3 times before, first time the easy way, and the other 2 the hard way where we go up and down more stairs seeing beautiful gardens. We will get back to the Palace Hotel at 3:00 PM. Then some of us may celebrate the walk by having a drink at the world famous Pied Piper Bar in the hotel.
