A Walk on Hidden Pathways in North/West Piedmont

Now open for RSVPs. This is a brand new walk. Also, we will start at a spot we have never started at before called "Noble Cafe." We used to start our walks that begin in Oakland at a Starbucks that is about a block away at Grand & Broadway but we were bothered there by beggars & smokers.

I encourage attendees to take public transportation, but if one needs to drive there is free parking at Oakland meters on Sundays. If taking BART get off at the 19th Street BART Station. Though this new starting place is a little further away from BART, it is still fairly close. It will give us more room & fewer problems. Also, it is closer to our next stop, the nearby Whole Foods Market.

Below is a link to Noble Cafe:

Then we walk to Whole Foods where people may use it's large restrooms & buy drinks and/or a sack lunch. Then we walk to our lunch spot, the Oakland Morcom Rose Garden, arriving about 11:50 AM. After lunch we will walk to nearby Piedmont. We will also visit Piedmont Park as there is a grocery store and restrooms there.

Estimated return time:  3:45 PM. When I walked the route for the first time, May 29, 2012, I took the below photos.

I was humbled by this rigorous hike. Met some nice people and Howard was an excellent leader.

Nice walk. Nice people. Pretty leisurely pace with lots of stops. Would have loved more history, as that is the promise of the group name.

I forgot my camera. Thanks to Kim for letting us use her camera and also her uploading the photos so we now have photos of this walk. Only myself and 13 others showed up, which is our lowest turnout in many months perhaps even years. Not counting myself we had a no show rate of 63%.

For me if is was a nice walk, although just before the end of the walk I kept stopping to rest, and I lost sight of where the group was walking to.
