Ogden Ropes Course

  • May 18, 2013 · 12:00 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

DIRECTIONS:

The course is still a bit new and from what I've heard, it can be hard to spot. Take Exit 346 for Weber County Fairgrounds and MAKE A LEFT- YOU WILL HEAD WEST FOR ABOUT 2.8 MILES (the actual road is Pioneer Rd, but it is not named as such on the freeway signs). At the corner you will turn South and follow the dirt road to the ropes course. Clas Ropes is located approximately 3900 West Pioneer Road, Marriott-Slaterville. If the gate is locked please call Brycen at[masked], Clas Ropes Office at[masked]-8897.
***I have not ever been here, so PLEASE give yourself a few minutes extra to find this road as there is not an exact address. I plan on having my cell phone. I will e-mail my cell number to those who said yes. You may call Brycen, the Clas Ropes Office, or myself if you have questions.***

Wear comfortable clothing/shoes. Be prepared for inclement weather (it's looking nice right now). BRING SUNBLOCK AND WATER!

what: An awesome Ropes Course! This is one of my favorites! When: Saturday, May 18 at noon. Get there a few minutes early to sign the waiver. How much? $18.84 (the 84 cents is for PayPal fees) Schedule: 2 hours of low ropes and 2 hours of exhilarating high ropes! Is it scary: maybe to some, but no one will ever make you do anything that you are uncomfortable with. Kids? It's totally up to you (the parent). We have had kids around 10 and they did great. But, only you know how your child would do on high obstacles. Here is the website for more information: http://clasropes.com/...

Thank you Jessica. The organizer says they will hold this Meetup every Monday as long as people want to attend. I might pass in this Monday to allow my arm to heal. :)

Hi everyone! For those of you interested in learning to climb, check out the Utah Sports Climbers group. They are having a free climbing class for beginners tomorrow night @ 5:30pm. Greg talked to them and you do not have to have gear to participate.

Thanks everyone for your help in making this possibly the best ropes course I've ever done. It was so much fun! And, the weather turned out great!

For those interested in rock climbing. It turns out that there may be an event suitable to beginners on Monday ...even without equipment. I'm checking into it. If you might be interested. Text me at 503.970.9278. I've got a message into the organizer. If you text me I'll text you back when I know something. Greg

Sorry I rushed off at the end... My daughter called and her she found her horse had died sometime today completely out of the blue, so I was hurrying home. Had an absolutely wonderful time and look forward to seeing you all again soon!!!

Just talked to a gentleman at the Ropes course... No refunds, no rescheduling and no cancellations unless there is lightning near by. He said there was a group out right now having a blast in the rain.

    May 18, 2013

    • Nicole

Thanks Meg! We've done this in the rain and it was a blast!

      May 18, 2013

  • Nicole

This event is still on. The only time clas ropes cancels is due to lightening, which is not an issue at this point. We pay for everyone who said yes, whether you come or not. So, unfortunately I can't do refunds.

    May 18, 2013

    • Nicole

I will only do refunds if the company allows me to pay for only those who show. Keep in mind that they have to pay the facilitators to drive out to ogden for our event. Sorry I can't tell you much more. However, the weather is supposed ti improve this afternoon (hopefully!)

  • Meg W.

Will weather hinder this adventure? Just wondering if I should bring rain gear incase or if it would be cancelled for bad weather?

I called the company and they only close of there is lightening within 5 miles away. They said they are pretty flexible on refunds in these situations, only prob is we paid through meetup, not them. Not sure if refund is an option.

      May 18, 2013

    • Nicole

      Yes meg, bring rain gear.

      May 18, 2013

  • greg

So Jessica, are you saying we could get a refund or postpone due to weather even if there is not lightning within 5 miles if we want?

I don't think so. I think it'd be up to the event host since she took the money. You'd have to talk to her.

what's the best type of footwear? tennis shoes or hiking boots?

    May 14, 2013

    • Nicole

It's totally up to you. I wear tennis shoes. You will need to climb up to get to the high obstacles. There are sometimes footholds up a tree or rope ladders that you climb. So, whatever you think would work best for you.

Is there a limit on attendees. If my daughter does not work she may want to come as well. However, she will not know until the last minute

I did a ropes course twice in the past for self improvement. Does this ropes course help you develop awareness of how you interact with others, and the environment? Like 'self - help' is included? Or is it purely for the physical fun of it?

    May 2, 2013

    • Nicole

While it will definitely include team work, our main goal is for the fun of it. This company does a good job of giving each group what they ask for, and I've asked to focus more on adventure and fun.
