Stomp in the Snow #6 - Full moon hike to Twin Lakes

It's a full moon, so what better time to get out on the snowshoes?  We will meet at the Big Cottonwood Canyon Park and Ride at 6:00PM and car pool up the canyon to Brighton.  This hike will be up to Twin Lakes.  We will pick a route that keeps us off the packed runs as much as possible.  This will have a vertical gain of just over 1000' and a total distance of 2 miles or less.  Bring a headlamp just in case it is cloudy, but we will mostly be hiking under the light of the moon......it should be glorious.  Dress in layers.

After the hike, we will meet at the cabin for socializing.....so BYOB and something to share.  This will probably be the last evening snowshoe before Christmas, so let's make this a festive occasion!!

What a fun experience!! Thanks Rick for putting it all together. I hope everyone had a great time afterwards, we were in a hurry to get home so we didn't stop and say good-bye.

Im in. No snowshoes though. Do you think my boots will make it?

The route that we will take will likely require snowshoes so that you don't post-hole with every step. You can rent from REI. Costco also has some fairly inexpensive snowshoes.

I saw some snowshoes in this weekend's flyer from the Army Navy store - I don't know how they compare in price or quality to the ones at Costco though

Darn! Sweet Mama duty calls. I have a holiday date with my daughter, but eagerly await the next time. I miss these lovely adventures into the night.

Anyone leaving from Logan tomorrow to do this hike? I don't have a vehicle to drive down so if anybody is carpooling from Logan area I'd love to join and chip in for gas.

Do we need to bring our own snowshoes? I just barely happened upon this group and am still a little in the dark about how things work.

It is best to have your own snowshoes. I have a couple extra pairs, but they go fast.

REI and other places around town have snowshoes for rent. Great way to test the waters without the big money commitment.
