This will be a reasonably easy hike this week with a total round trip distance of about[masked] miles and a vertical gain of about 650 feet, about half our previous hikes. Willow Lake is located east of the Solitude Ski Resort. We will meet at the Big Cottonwood Canyon Park and Ride to carpool up the canyon. Yaktrak or Microspikes may work just fine on this hike since it is traveled fairly often. However, it just snowed 11" Monday night, so there might be some fresh snow to play along the way and on the way down. Snowshoes will always work no matter what the snow condition. There will be no moon light on this hike, so it will be dark - bring a headlamp. The temperature should be around freezing.
Unfortunately, the cabin is still rented until Saturday, so we will have to find another location to socialize after the hike. I will post any update on the socializing location, so be prepared to BYOB and something to share. At worst case, we could meet a the Porcupine Grill at the mouth of the canyon.
