Twin Lake/Solitude Lake Loop

Meet at the Big Cottonwood Canyon Park & ride to carpool up the canyon.

We will hike the Twin Lakes/Solitude Lakes loop.  We will start hiking from the cabin in Brighton, around Silver Lake, up to Twin Lakes and up and over to Lake Solitude, returning past Silver Lake and back to the cabin.  This is probably a 3 mile loop with and elevation gain of 1200 feet.  It is moderately strenuous since it has some steeper climbs (but they are not take steep because they are old Jeep trails).

After the hike, we will meet at the cabin for socializing, so BYOB and something tasty to share.

I am sorry that the actions of a few disrupted the enjoyment of the evening for everyone else. This is the first time that something like this has happened....and I hope that it never happens again. I have always taken great pride feeling that everyone in attendance at one of my events, not only experienced a great hike, but felt welcome, accepted and loved.....leaving having had a great time with great people.

I will reschedule the hike that we were going to do at a later date. I appreciate your understanding and patience with all the issues that came up last night.

Rick, you are the man. Thanks for all you do. I heard a little bit about what happened and I'm sure that will be a one time occurrence. I've never been a part of a group ranging so widely between ages and interests and had such a great time or felt more welcome. Thanks for all you do. We all appreciate it.

Thank you Rick, I'm glad that you are rescheduling the hike, since at the last minute something came up and I wasn't able to attend... I am really anxious to get started with this group, not only for the obvious exercise, but also to meet some new people and make some new friends!

I don't know what happened last night that you were referring to, but your positive attitude and determination to ensure fun for everyone affirms for me that this would be a great group to be associated with... Thank you for your efforts, and I hope to meet you soon!

Rick, we may just meet you at the cabin before you head out for the hike. About what time do you think you will be heading out?

    June 18

    • Rick G.

We'll probably be at the cabin about 6:15 and then start on the hike around 6:30-6:45. See you there.

We may change the route a little because of the snow, but it should be beautiful up there with the snow against the green. Worst case, we'll just spend more time partying at the cabin - if that is worst case ;-)

heard there was some snow today - getting into SLC tomorrow..how strenuous is the hike? Doable w TRAIL shoes? warmer gear required?

    June 17

    • Rick G.

It will be cooler tomorrow evening because of the snow today, but it will make everything clean and fresh. Wear something warm. I think that all the snow will melt before noon tomorrow.....the ground has already warmed up.

FC is thunderstorm and rain; will it be shine or rain?

    June 17

    • Rick G.

You can never trust forecasts. Last week had a Severe Thunderstorm Warning and we didn't even get a drop. If the weather is bad, we'll just party at the cabin......but more than likely, it will be fine.

Can you send me the address where the cabin is and I will meet you there

    June 17

    • Rick G.

Google maps is all screwed up if you plug in the address. Plug in the coordinates that I gave in the last email and that should put you there. My number is:[masked] if you have any problems.

I don't know where it is, but if anyone is going from Park City, they could ride with me and tell me where it is. Sounds great!

    • Rick G.

If you are coming from Park City, drive over Guardsman Pass to Brighton....it's quick. Meet us at the cabin at about 6:00-6:15 (by the time we get everyone in the carpools and get up the canyon). The coordinates for the cabin are[masked], [masked]
