European Union Open House

  • May 9, 2009 · 10:00 AM
  • Dupont Circle Metro Station - North Exit

From 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, the 26 embassies from the EU member states plus the European Commission Delegation will be having their 3rd annual Open House. This is an opportunity to take a behind-the-scenes look at the European Embassies, many of which are among Washington's historic and architectural treasures. Each Embassy offers a unique program featuring the country's cuisine, its music and special events. Meet at Booeymongers (our usual location) at 9:30 am, or at the north exit of Dupont Circle Metro station between 10:00 and 10:30. Go to the top of the long escalator, and we'll meet in the small park across the road. This is at the intersection of Connecticut Ave, 20th and Q Streets. Taking public transport is highly recommended, as parking is likely to be scarce. Most of the embassies are along Massachusetts Ave and its side streets. The French and German embassies (two of the largest) are on Reservoir Rd in Georgetown, and there are some other locations. Free shuttle buses will be available from Dupont Circle. The official website is at
http://www.eurunion.o... Please bring identification, as all embassies will conduct security checks, and avoid bringing large bags and backpacks. The ESL group will be joining us for this event. Please only sign up with one group. It doesn't matter which one.

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
