Thank you for introducing me to a great lake, that I never before had been too. However, I arrived very late, and missed the group because the map directions associated with this event (when I clicked on map for this event, checked several times) are very wrong. I ended up at an address about 15 miles away from the lake.

    • Marc

I just corrected the city and zip code.

Thanks for making the correction. Just so you know, I am using a Mac and Google Chrome, and multiple times (two times when I originally signed up, and another three just before the event) clicked on the link just to make sure I got the directions correctly. And each time it consistently showed the address in Fairfax. And that is what I used. A good half an hour away from the true location of the park. It was only when I put Fountainhead Park into my GPS did I get the right directions. But too late to meet the group on time.

One of the cables came loose - I fiddled w/ it for about 20 minutes late yesterday, before deciding this is now going to be REI's problem...

I'm glad you all like the pics. The amount of fun I have taking photos made up for my inability to pilot the USS Jacuzzi in any particular direction. If there's an easy way to do it, can someone share with the WASUP group?

    2 · June 8, 2014

    • Deke M.

I did cross post the link to the pictures with WASUP as well as with Lake Ridge Paddlers (LRP). Not sure if most folks were aware but we were actually 3 groups on Sunday (that group led by Amy).

I think the paddle went extremely well. This was a long paddle but applaud all the paddlers who tested themselves and their limits without many complaints. BRAVO to you ALL!!!!

Sorry Hector, I have to help out with something at church. If I can get out in time, I'll put in at Bull Run and try and meet up with y'all at the break area.

Tips: Come early and secure a parking space and Kayak rentals.
Be ready to go into the water and allow the next wave of paddlers to go in.
    We're doing the buddy system.

How long is the paddling event? What time should we arrive if we are renting kayaks? Are there 2 person kayaks?

    June 3, 2014

    • Peggy

We will make a left at the "Y" section of the water towards a very "Pirates of The Caribbean" shoreline.

As with the Tom Selleck Mustache Paddle get there early for parking or to take care of any Kayak rentals at the office. Also be mindful that others are using the ramp. So the sooner we can clear out the better. Lastly I will leave a 15 to 20 minute window open for late comers. Worse comes to worse follow the flotilla of Tie Dye Shirts :>)

You will have an enjoyable time! :>)
