Paddle Piscataway Creek and Bay

  • Jun 1, 2014 · 10:30 AM
  • Wharf Road

Let's paddle from Wharf Road into the Marsh Loop where it is protected. High tide is around 11:30 so we should be all set with plenty of clearance in the marsh itself. This portion of the paddle will be very beginner friendly so all are welcome. I have seen eagles, osprey, beaver, and even deer swimming in the water on this loop.

We will return to the launch site and then whoever is interested will paddle to Mockley Point at the Potomac. This portion is through a bird sanctuary so plenty of things flying about. It also bound to be a bit more challenging with a little more exposure to wind and boat wake so let's call this advanced beginner.

There are no SUP or kayak rentals at this location. Also no fees to launch your own boat/board.

10:30 is the launch time so please arrive by 10:00. I would bring some food (and of course drink) as we plan to stop at the launch spot after the Marsh.

A traumatic experience. Had same happen when I was living in Silver Spring. Sorry to hear that you are going through this.

Sounds like a fun paddle. Will be glad to be paddling in good company. Typically I paddle alone from Riley's Lock on the Potomac.
