I have been paddling for more than a handful of years. I am a class-junky, life-time learner. I prefer texture with my water but can do anything from "flat" to three plus feet. Chop and rollers are good!
I have a 3 boat quiver I consider practical. For camping, long distance & speed: Current Designs Solstice GTS with rudder, Kevlar composite, 17.5 feet of light, fierce, slippery awesomeness. I've paddled this boat in every condition from the Bay of Fundy to the Florida Keys. For rough water, surf, classes and instruction I load: NDK Romany Surf with skeg, 16' fiberglass composite. This boat is my choice for the Bay generally. And last every paddler needs a poly boat they can bang about on rocks: my choice is my Necky Elias 15.5 feet, playful, light, small sea kayak.
I can barely think of a thing I love more than water.
Nice group of paddlers.
