Jordan Lake State Recreation Area (map)
Flatwater Kayaking, Camping lakeside, Hiking, Fishing, and Swimming are available on-site. Mountain biking and road biking trails/routes are nearby… do it all!
We have booked a campsite at the Jordan Lake State Recreation Area, Vista Point Campgrounds. The site has beachfront/lakeside access and accommodates up to 35 people, so 1st come, 1st serve. The date booked is Sept. 12th-15th. Stay for just 1 night, 2, or all 3 nights…your option.
Directions to the area and the maps are provided on their website at http://www.ncparks.go....
Facilities include flush toilets, hot showers and potable water. Parking is in a paved lot adjacent to the campground site with overflow near the facilities.
To attend, we require only a note with your name, address and check for $5/night (yes, only $5 single or double occupancy!) to help us defray the costs. Any excess funds will be applied towards firewood and supplies if needed. We need to receive this not later than August 30th. Email me at [masked] to send a check and your reservation or use Paypal to Surfkayakers if it is more convenient for you.
For those of you with pets, we prefer if they let you go without them, but if they insist, the rules state that your pets must be attended and on a leash no longer than 6’ at all times. Please review the rules for complete info. http://www.ncparks.go...
While we’re speaking about the rules, as with all Carolina Parks systems, no alcohol or firearms are permitted… please check the above url for details.

Funny, there aren't many places I have been in NC, but I visited this lake when I contemplated moving to Chapel Hill. Most of my camping gear is very old (way older than my kayak), but I will air a few things out and see what I can use. I am an awesome fire starter and if I go will bring the fixings for shishkabobs (both veggie and meat). Sounds fun.
