DETAILS: Drawing on the real lives and stories of today?s slaves, Kevin Bales? new book Ending Slavery gives practical steps that policymakers and citizens alike can take to build a world without slavery. Feeding on globalization and corruption, and taking many forms, slavery has grown dramatically in the last 50 years. Today there are 27 million people in real slavery around the world in both rich and poor countries. Their forced labor feeds into products we consume every day. But it doesn?t have to be like this. Preeminent scholar-activist and Pulitzer Prize-nominated writer Kevin Bales shows how, for the first time in human history, we can bring that slavery to an end?even in as little as 25 years.

After Bales presents his groundbreaking new book, Ending Slavery, his fellow policy and field experts (TBA) from the Action Group to End Human Trafficking and Modern-Day Slavery will speak about the current and upcoming legislative priorities that are integral to the fight against human trafficking and modern-day slavery.
