Not understanding your question/the intent of your question, Jason.
Consulting does not mean the client is going to accept every piece of
your counsel (even if that piece is a crucial one). In my case, the
client was one of my best friends -- which I'm fairly sure made it
easier for her to disregard my advice -- and stubbornly refused to
budge on her choice of hosting. Because of this I could only develop
her site so far. I ended up refusing any payment for my counsel.
