Democratic Convention Website

This location is shown only to members

The 2008 election might feel like a distant memory, but we're going to spend the July WCM meeting discussing the Democratic National Convention website and the CMS that powered it.

From the official press release from the Democratic National Committee: "DemConvention.com received more than 3.2 million visits totaling more than 2.6 billion hits during Convention week. More than 350,000 hours of video were watched by DemConvention.com visitors as the DNC site offered live gavel-to-gavel coverage in High-Definition (HD) in both English and Spanish for the first time in Convention history."

During this session we'll discuss
-Open source procurement
-President Obama's success in Web 2.0 interaction
-Object oriented code
-Usability in a CMS
-Managing massive spikes of traffic

The CMS that powered this site is SilverStripe. If you're not familiar with it, it's a commercially-supported open source CMS and framework downloaded more than 150,000 times.

Web Content Mavens is lucky to have SilverStripe's Founder (Sigurd Magnusson) all the way from New Zealand to discuss the project and what his CMS can do! Tim Chambers of Dewey Digital will also be on hand to discuss his role in the project.

As always, Web Content Mavens is sponsored by NavigationArts, Microsoft, and Percussion.
