Position Summary:

The Director of Application Development will work with leaders across the
firm to ensure that Information Technology strategically supports the
company goals and objectives.  The Director will report to the Chief
Information Officer and have direct management responsibility for a group of
15-20 full-time employees and contractors organized into three application
development teams and a shared software quality assurance team.

The ideal candidate for the role should possess the following
characteristics and qualifications:

·         Undergraduate degree with a minimum of 10 years related
experience; 5-10 years doing direct software development coupled with 5-10
years managing and leading teams of Software Engineers
·         Advanced degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a
related field preferred
·         Extensive experience architecting and leading the development of
complex applications by applying expert level C#, .NET and SQL skills
·         Business acumen with a sound foundation in the principles of
accounting and finance; prior investment management industry experience
·         Proven track record managing, developing, and leading a team of
high quality IT professionals with multiple perspectives and talents;
ability to engage teams through enthusiasm and excitement about the business
and understanding of business challenges
·         Must have the breadth of experience, personal maturity,
interpersonal skills and diplomacy to interact effectively with all levels
and functions across the organization; proven ability to intelligently
articulate complex technical knowledge to business users
·         Entrepreneurial spirit coupled with expertise in aligning and
leveraging technology to the company's advantage; demonstrated ability to
bring the benefits of information technology to solve business issues while
also managing cost and risk
·         Relevant hands-on technical experience across the entire software
development lifecycle, including software migration projects with data
conversions, software and interface testing, database development and
management, reporting systems, and document/information­ management systems
·         Ability to conceptualize, launch and deliver multiple IT projects
on time and within budget, as well as maintain and manage existing
applications and business initiatives
·         Extensive experience developing, delivering and supporting
applications using a variety of Agile methodologies with exceptional
organizational, time management and project management skills
·         Strong respect for core company values such as intellectual
curiosity, respect, accountability, and intellectual honesty and the ability
to pass those values on to others

As the technology leader tasked with building outstanding software solutions
for the firm, the Director will partner with the CIO to set development
strategy and will work with his or her teams to execute and implement those
solutions.  The Director will have responsibility for the overall software
architecture of the firm, for the quality of the code and consistency of
delivery, and for the leadership, management and development of the teams.
Essential functions of this position will include, but are not limited to:

·         Work with the CIO and others to understand the Information
Technology needs of various stakeholders within the company and oversee the
development, delivery, and support of applications and integrated solutions
to meet those needs
·         Build and lead effective teams to coordinate and align the work of
application development and software quality assurance teams to deliver
integrated solutions to key stakeholders
·         Coach IT managers and employees to be effective in their roles;
partner with direct reports and their teams to ensure professional
development opportunities
·         Oversee the creation and revitalization of systems, structures,
and processes to ensure that IT services are reliable and scalable
·         Provide vision, clear direction and day-to-day oversight of
software development, ensuring that projects are well managed and delivered
on time
·         Ensure documentation and compliance of relevant IT systems,
procedures, and policies
·         Develop and manage the budget for the application development and
software quality assurance teams
