Webilea@cyon - an Event powered bei i-net

  • Jul 24, 2013 · 7:00 PM

Learn about growing a hosting business, IPv6 and content centric networking (CCN)

There are more and more devices beeing connected to the internet and every device must be assigned an IP address. To match this need an to deal with the problem of IPv4 address exhaustion the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) has developed the Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6). The Meetup Webilea@cyon powered by i-net will point out the challenges that have to be faced in the transition from IPv4 to IPv6 and give an idea of the possibilities that will be coming along with the new IP protocol.

The next Webilea will be hosted by cyon, Aeschengraben 6 , 5th floor, in Basel, on the 24th of July and starts at 7 p.m.

During this (hopefully) warm summer evening you'll learn more about the following topics:

Introducing this event, David Burkardt Founder and CEO of cyon GmbH will tell his story and talk about the main challenges and learnings in building a successfull webhosting company. The presentation will be held in german.

Mathias Seiler, Head of Cloud Services with MiroNet AG, will demystify IPv6 for developers: despite the current low use of IPv6 of only about 1 percent of all internet traffic, IPv6 is becoming an issue in software development. Matthias will give an overview of what will change with IPv6 and what new features and pitfalls must be considered from a developers point of view.

Manolis Sifalakis, Research at University of Basel, will give a short introduction to content centric networking (CCN), one of the hot topics among computer network researchers. CCN is an alternative approach to the current network architectures, which might outperform traditional computer networks in terms of speed, resilience, maintenance, and fault tolerance in the near future.

We are looking forward to meet you soon!
