Dear ICT-Entrepreneur, Tech Enthusiast and Software Developers,

Sport is fun and healthy, but sport is data too. Scores and performance over time, passes played during a game or your bicycle rides: there is a lot of data for many different sports and it is becoming more and more open data now.

On May 23 and 24, 2014, i-net and Webilea are hosting the first International Sports Hackdays, organized by the association, the Swiss Chapter of the Open Knowledge Foundation. During these two days, several teams will work with open data and create new applications to visualize or analyse the information showing the potential of open data. On Saturday evening we will watch together the finals of the UEFA Champions League – and maybe even demonstrate a live data analysis of the game.

Currently, open data is being collected and teams are being assembled. Headquartered in the «Sichtbar» in Basel, Switzerland, the Sports Hackdays will be a European event with local nodes in Sierre (Switzerland), Milano (Italy) and London (UK).

Sounds like a great event! I'm in Basel but likely to be working Friday. What parts of the weekend can I drop into?
