Senator McCain is coming to town this Tuesday, Sept 16th, and you're invited to attend a "Rise Up for Peace" rally with local peace and social justice groups and other concerned citizens taking place near his appearance. Our presence will impress upon Senator McCain and the press that his neocon platform of military aggression at the cost of taking care of citizens at home isn't the way the country wants to go.

This will be a broadly based coalition, ranging from local Code Pink and their very theatrical "War Pig Welcoming Committee" to citizens from 5yearsofwar.com, Florida Peace Action Network and more.

The organizers are committed to making the rally a peaceful and legal expression of our right to assemble on public sidewalks. Raise your signs and your voices to tell Senator McCain and Tampa Bay that more war against innocent nations, more crimes against humanity and the planet, and more Americans without the basic needs for which every human being is entitled -- including meaningful employment at living wages -- does not have the support of the majority of the American people.

While some signs will be available, your own tasteful creations are welcome. Make sure you dress appropriately for a hot day, and bring a bottle of water or two.

Or if you can only participate in cyberspace, that's ok too. Please give us a shout if you do so so we can link from the organizers' website.

Onward and upward!

Dude, spamming our blogger group with politics isn't cool. I don't care which way you lean politically, this isn't the place for it.
