It seems that while the linked page / swf is displayed properly in <= Firefox 2, there are problems with IE and with FF 3.0.

Here's a simple animated map showing the "real view" factoring in population (~electoral college votes) - expanding and deflating some states while maintaining their shapes.  Nothing fancy tech wise but something that attempts to communicate the dramatic effect visually! 

[ I have felt, especially over the previous 2 elections, that the media does not show / explain this effect sufficiently in the pre- and post-election coverage/analysis. ]
