The following info might also be helpful to get the landmark POIs. 

"Actually, MapTP allows you work with the various layers.  I am not 100% sure, but I am pretty sure the POI���s have different layers too.  

This example seems to show how you can search different types of POIs,  I don���t see why you could not have a custom POI list that only shows certain POIs that he is interested in.
