CSS: Positioning & Layouts (4-class series)

Description

This course picks up where our CSS Basics class left off - we'll explain positioning and layouts, probably the most challenging part of CSS. Practice is key to understanding layouts, so we'll work through exercises and examples that demonstrate each of the different techniques.

Whether you're relatively new to CSS, or you've had your fair share of trying to sort out terms such as float, fixed, relative, and absolute, we bet you'll walk away from this class saying, "I think I'm starting to really get this!"

Pre-requisites: An understanding of HTML and knowledge of how to use CSS to style HTML elements. If you've had our CSS Basics course, you're set! Not sure if you are ready? Try this 3-question quiz!

    Hi, Nicole and Susan,

My job is paying for this course, and I was trying to figure out if I could pay you directly with my Harvard PCard (as an alternate card on my PayPal account) or pay you myself and get reimbursed. The issue for Harvard is whether Web Start Women is incorporated or not since I can't use the card to pay for services provided by unincorporated people/organizations. Could you let me know WSW's incorporation status? It's not a big deal either way -- I'm still taking the course -- I just don't want to hold things up before tomorrow night's class. Feel free to message me off-thread if you prefer: [masked].

    Thanks!

    Amy

    Hi!
Will this course cover exactly the same as the online 'codagogy' one?

    February 10

    • Nicole Noll

The content will be similar. The in-person class will have more opportunities for practice and feedback. For example, we'll work through exercises for several different layout techniques in class, whereas in the Codagogy version (which is more condensed), students will choose a type of layout to execute and get feedback on. Let me know if you have any other questions. =)

Too bad. I wish it will be on for a different time. Just significant for the Wordpress for the same time period. Also after sign up for the Wordpress I realize that I will miss week Feb 18-22 class ( school vacation week we are away). Hope can make up the class in the near future.
