Techfest is back!!! This is a great conference with a lot of different technology. A lot of sessions are geared for developers, however, there is a project manager track and if you want to just see the latest and greatest coming out from Microsoft, there is a good track that will help you see what they think is the future of web computing.

The event is free!

A systematic approach to codifying design parts and layout with a complete CSS to simplify rapid prototyping and finishing touches? What's not to like????

To appease the graphics folks (a little bit) we are going to look at 960 Grid and Blueprint, both of which are CSS frameworks. In this Meetup, I'd like you to bring your laptops, because we will actually code up some of the examples as exercises. The frameworks are like Othello, moments to learn years to master, so don't worry about your programming skills.

If you are a user of either system, or have good CSS experience, please let me know so that we can be sure to tap your experience during the Meetup.

Jared Bienz and Sara Summers from Microsoft will be giving the presentation this month and it will rock your world. Come learn about the development cycle and platform Microsoft is unleashing. If you were at Houston Techfest two years ago, you just got a taste of the development tools and capabilities of this website development process.

This will be great for hard core developers and laymen alike, as you will learn some of the how and lot of the what can be done and really what the Internet will look like in the near future.

This is one of the most exciting Meetups I think this group has had!!

The entrance to the parking garage is on Del Monte Dr. near the Beltway 8 feeder. Guests will need to sign in at the security desk and I’ll have a stamp to validate their parking so they don’t have to pay when they leave.

Get together and swap tricks of the trade to writing content for your site. Includes blogging, writing for Search Engine Optimization, selling content and conversion. I will have just given a talk on this topic at the UH Small Business Development Center, so I'll give a SHORT presentation on those topics and then I'd like to mix it up and see what everyone else has to say.

I need some suggestions for meeting places, since the Stag's head is demanding a $200 minimum in food and beverages, which we don't quite make.

I just got this email today (Eric) ::::

From Erica O'grady:

Hi Folks,

I know it's late notice - but I didn't want to miss an opportunity for everyone to meet Molly Holzschlag. Molly is the author of over 30 books on Web Design & CSS including best sellers like The Zen of CSS Design and Transcending CSS. She'll be joining us tomorrow night at The Stag's Head Pub to answer your Design and CSS questions. I promise that you don't want to miss this opportunity to learn from the best!

E-commerce. Hmmmm. Right.

So what do you need to sell on the net? Do you need a full functioning shopping cart? Do you need a SSL? Can you make money doing it? Where else can you sell on the web? How much should it cost?

This Meetup will do at least 2 things: 1) we will put up a live ecommerce site opening a new store: mystoredamnit.com. 2) We will compare and contrast different ways to sell on the Net and learn that there are many ways to skin this cat.
