Re: [webtechnologydesign] Brilliant Geek: Manager of Technical Service s - Web Development

I have retired but still know some others to forward this one to. However, before I can forward to the right person, I am rather confused - has the title been changed so greatly in our industry? To me, Brilliant or not, this is a merely web software developer position instead Manger of Technical Services, unless this is a one man team.

We are looking for a new Manger of Technical Services for our Houston office. We are based out of Cambridge, MA with offices in Washington state and Amman, Jordan. I have posted the information about the job below. Please contact me directly if you are interested. Thanks for your consideration.

In this position, you will be a key technical manager developing, supporting, and testing database-backed, feature rich, CMS-based websites for our clients. You will work on code yourself and partner with other resources, as need be, to get the job done.

The desired geek will have 5 years experience in any database-focused, programming environment. Proficiency in HTML and two programming languages (.NET, Python, etc.) is assumed. Your .NET experience is Au and SiteCore experience is Pt. If you know TCL on top of the former two, submit your resume immediately.

The desired geek will possess a proven history of testing code thoroughly before deployment and documenting wherever appropriate. The desired geek will be able to translate business requirements in and out of techno-lingo. The desired geek will come to work, happily dressed in more than a stained South Park t-shirt.

Do you have what it takes to join us?

Were looking for brilliant geeksweb software developers who love programming innovative applications for the web. We have a stable, market product with numerous installations and years of experience to train you. You will have a passion for programming, the ability to see a clear solution before your fingers hit the keys, and an interest in developing a flexible and extensible software application system. Our core is centered in templated, website solutions using a customized content management application built on an Oracle database. Since we work with health care organizations, we are constantly looking for ways to interoperate with SQL Server-based apps as well as proprietary client-server dbs.

Attitude and temperament is far more important than die-hard, certified credentials. To be considered, you should have seen at least half-a-dozen team-based design and development projects through to production. You should also really love working on websites.

Were focused; were committed; we own it life at MedTouch.

Heres what we expect

Programming excellence: your code should be tight, efficient, clean, fast, and clear
Experience with project estimation, in terms of cost and duration
Attention to detail without overt fussiness
Demonstrated excellence with great looking, highly functional web applications
Ability to switch gears and be flexible in a quickly growing and changing business
Eagerness to learn

A positive, can-do attitude
