The Dove Residence
THIS IS AN INTRODUCTORY LEVEL CLASS focusing on the food aspect (NOT the Medicinal aspects)
Visited my friend, KD, last Friday and noticed how nice the spring weed growth in her back yard is. Last chance before the first spring mowing. The plants are what is typical of a Nashville urban or suburban yard. The ones here are healthier than the ones I have seen in some yards I have visited. You will get to know what the free yard edibles look like and how to prepare them for eating and what parts are safe to eat etc.
Also KD has a impressive little raised bed garden bursting with fall planting efforts.
FYI, KD is a dog lover and has 3.
This event will begin with an introductory talk about safety, principles and how to use the plant guides, especially the Peterson Guide, " A Field Guide to Edible Wild Plants of Eastern and Central North America". Bringing this book will help you get more out of this class.
KD says there are plants in the yard that can be dug up and taken home (weeds), so bring pots and a trowel just in case you want to take something home.
Bring a camp chair, if it is convenient for you, or a rug or towel to sit on. There are a few chairs on site, but not enough.
You might want to bring a notebook and take photos too.
This is a prepay through Paypal when you RSVP event. Minimum count is 10 for it to be a go. If the class is cancelled, you money will be refunded. $10 per person.
