This plant has a jillion common names and occurs in many places around the world. It is in the mint family and was used in beer brewing during the middle ages in Western Europe. It has been medicinally for 100's of years. It is nice in tea and snipped with scissors into salads. The flavor is very distinctive. Some people hate it. It has beautiful purple flowers during spring and round galls ranging between 1/4 inch to one inch in diameter are good to eat too and were traditional food for European peasants.

Cindy - Glad to know this is edible since it lives *all* over my yard. Love the smell of it just after it's cut!
