  • Fancy doing some 3D printing?

Have a project you need to get printed?

Just curious and want top know what the heck it's all about?

Well come along, chill out with us and learn the mechanics of using the world famous UP! 3D printer and afterwards you'll be able to use them whenever you like!

    We'll cover general things like:

Getting [nice] models for free! [or even nicer paid ones]

Where to start with CAD files. Some free software we recommend and use.

How to cleanup a mesh and import into the UP! Software ready for printing

Materials and types of 3D printers [there are many non-plastic printers available too!]

    Common faults and remedies

    and specific pointers:

    Calibrating/Setting the printer for printing

What to check so you don't make expensive birds nests!

    Little tricks for great prints

    Machine checks - maintenance pointers

Please note - This is a workshop for learning how to setup the machine and general printing - not a 'get a print done on the night' -  3D printing is a pretty long process and we just won't get time.

Of course the printers will be running tho' as a demonstration

    ________________________________________________________________

Bring a PC-based [or windows emulated MAC] laptop and we'll give you a copy of the UP! software to cost your printing

    Payment:

    Cost: $40.

To absolutely guarantee your place for the workshop, please RSVP by depositing payment via this Paypal link

Please note we'll need a minimum of 7 RSVP's to proceed - so do check back with us at either the meetup contact,[masked] or [masked]

Im keen to get started. I have been learning 123d design and have some models ready to go (but need help simplifying the meshes).

mshlab worked. Though their clever mesh reducing filter worked but had errors. It turned out that simply exporting an .stl from 123d, importing into meshlab, and saving it as .obj without performing any filtering, dramatically reduced the file size (from 150mb to 20mb). Model looks the same.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
