Poets Tanya Runyon and Marci Rae Johnson will be featured readers at Brewed Awakening, 19 West Quincy (across from the train station), Westmont, on Sunday, August 25, beginning at 12:30 p.m. Cover charge of $7.00 includes coffee and a snack. Tania Runyan is the author of Second Sky (forthcoming from Cascade Books in 2014), A Thousand Vessels (WordFarm), Simple Weight (FutureCycle Press) and Delicious Air (Finishing Line Press), which was awarded Book of the Year by the Conference on Christianity and Literature in 2007. Her poems have appeared in many publications, including Poetry, Image, Mid-American Review, Atlanta Review, Indiana Review, Harvard Divinity Bulletin, The Christian Century, Willow Springs, Nimrod, and the anthology In a Fine Frenzy: Poets Respond to Shakespeare. Tania was awarded an NEA Literature Fellowship in 2011. She tutors high school students and edits for Every Day Poems and Relief.
Marci Rae Johnson currently teaches English at Valparaiso University in Indiana, where she serves as Poetry Editor for The Cresset. She is also the Poetry Editor for WordFarm Press. Her poems appear or are forthcoming in Redivider, The Valparaiso Poetry Review, Perihelion, The Louisville Review, Phoebe, The Christian Century, Strange Horizons, and 32 Poems, among others. Her first collection of poetry won the Powder Horn Prize and will be published by Sage Hill Press this year. She lives in Michigan, across the line from Indiana.
