Poets Gary Ketchum and Daniel A. Stafford will be featured poets at Brewed Awakening, 19 West Quincy (across from the train station), Westmont, on Sunday, January 26, 2014 at 12:30 PM.
There will also be an open mic. Cover charge of $7.00 includes coffee and a snack. The readings are sponsored by the Illinois State Poetry Society and Brewed Awakening.
Gary Ketchum originally hails from his native state of Michigan but has lived in Illinois most of the last thirty years. He now resides in Naperville. Gary has been writing and presenting readings of poetry most of his adult life. He is an award winning public speaker and performer of oral interpretation of literature including prose and drama as well as poetry in contests, recitals and festivals. He is a member of several literary circles and organizations, including the Illinois State Poetry Society and Poets and Patrons. His works include many examples of form poetry as well as free verse and prose poetry.
Daniel A. Stafford is happily married with two grown children out on their own. He is an Air Force Veteran, and has been a Telecommunications Technician since 1993. He has special interest in environmentalism, science, social justice, poetry, music, reading and Karate—and is learning Spanish. Originally from Wisconsin, Stafford has lived in the Chicago area since late 1997. He has been writing poetry since 2000, has published three chapbooks through lulu.com, and appears in six poetry anthologies. He has more than 1700 poems published online at lightverse.com. He has done readings at a number of venues, including The Green Mill Poetry Slam in Uptown Chicago.
