There will also be an open mic. Cover charge of $7.00 includes coffee and a snack. The readings are sponsored by the Illinois State Poetry Society and Brewed Awakening.
Pamela Larson has recently been published on DagdaPublishing.com, PoetrySuperHighway.com and in bottle rockets #29, 2013 HSA Anthology. She had two poems published in JOMP 16, one of which received a Pushcart Prize Nomination. She has won several awards from Highland Park Poetry and has coordinated an Exquisite Corpse, a Cinepoem Showcase, and now is coordinating a Chaining project (all with Highland Park Poetry). She is a member of the Arlington Poetry Project, NWCC’s 2nd Saturday Poets, Highland Park Poetry, Haiku Society of America, Poets & Patrons of Chicago and the Illinois State Poetry Society.
Michal Mendelsohn, the second woman ordained as a rabbi in the United States, is writing her memoir, Rabbi, Your Cleavage is Showing, and working on a chapbook based on Biblical and Jewish themes, called Drowning in the Desert. Her poetry book, Chasing Moonbeams is available on Amazon.com. She also writes sermons and prayers. Mendelsohn is a lawyer (in recovery), had a radio talk show on KGO radio in Northern California called "God-Talk" and has served as rabbi of two congregations in the Chicago area. She taught Religious Studies for six years at Benedictine University in Lisle.
