Hwy 9 to and thru Wilder Ranch

An adventure ride where we decide which way to go while seeking out singletrack and taking fireroad to get there... Expect this ride to be an up to 20-miler taking approximately 4 hours with breaks. Possible lunch afterwards at a local spot.

If the dirt lot is full park along-side the road on the same side of the lot just before or after it. If you're familiar with the Rincon pullout on HWY 9 in Santa Cruz- that is our meeting spot.

From San Jose: Take Hwy 17 to Santa Cruz. Go straight toward Santa Cruz and stay to the right. Turn right on River Street-turns into Hwy9. Go 2.4 miles up and you will see the large parking area on the right.

As always a helmet is required for all SJMTB rides and extra protective gear is recommended if you are tentative about riding down rocky trails. Extra water, a snack, and your basic trail side tools (multi-tool, tube, pump) should be sufficient for this longer ride.

Thanks again for riding with us! We always have so much fun.

So glad to finally check out Pogonip! Thanks to all, especially Jim, for slowing down for me. A great ride on a great day! See you again soon I hope.

Not going to make this one. Legs need a recovery day; lots of riding this week. Demo forest on thurs really kicked my butt. So I'm staying home, finishing the frame swap I just did on one of my bikes. Then I'll be dialed in for next time!

Thank you, after thinking about it a bit more- I came to the same reasoning- just sounded funny off the cuff- which I do/am often:)

Hi! just a new to meet up question. What's with the limit to riders on a ride/ run/ hike , I don't get it

Michele, I think a lot of it is preference. Host huge groups is a bit of a stretch with outdoors type meetups. It becomes more work than it's worth to keep people of varied abilities together as a group. You end up having people waiting around for long periods of time or taking tons of breaks, messing up the flow. Also many of the places we ride in nor-cal do have limits on the number of people a group can have before a permit is required. Smaller groups just work out better for all trail users in the end. Hope my answer isn't too long winded.

I noticed the ride is full already. I may show up unofficially; join y'all for the climb, then disappear somewhere around twin gates and take the scariest way down I can find!

Yeah it's a tough couple of days just following. I had all mine done at the same time and I looked like a chipmunk for a couple of weeks. Right before junior pictures too. No worries if you can't make it I think I can get us as lost as anyone else!!!
