Demo Forest Endurance ride. Int. Ride Date Change!

Demo Forest Endurance Ride

Intermediate level long ride

It's been too long for me and I need to get out and ride demo again before it gets too hot and blown out.  We'll be doing two loops on this ride with a trip down Braille and either Sawpit or Tractor.  As with any Demo ride there will be plenty of climbing so be ready with plenty of fuel and water.  Also if you're not familiar with Demo be prepared for some awesome technical riding.  Braille is full of rider built features including many drops and jumps.  Sawpit is more of a fast technical flow trail.  It's has some pretty gnarly rock gardens here and there but is mostly just fast and twisty.

RIDE RATING:

INTERMEDIATE LEVEL: This ride is quite technical.  There are lots of roots, rocks, and steep chutes.  Combined with the large amounts of climbing this makes for a difficult ride that should only be taken on by experienced riders.

PHYS 9/10: This ride is going to be long.  A normal single loop at Demo is between 13-15 miles so you can count on nearly twice that for this ride with our second loop.

TECH 9/10: The trails at demo are tight, twisty and awesome.  But they're not for new riders.  The roots, rocks, and steep chutes make this ride very technical.

25miles

3000+ gain

Please remember that our rides require a properly maintained mountain bike and helmet.  If you have questions regarding gear feel free to shoot me an email and I can make suggestions or point you to an expert in your area.

See you out there,

David

David, after the trek dirt series weekend I would really like to work on technical skills. So, why don't we open up the ride and split it in one endurance group doing many loops and one technical group stopping at features for training?

    1 · May 15, 2013

    • David

Lol, Sonja, you must not know the folks on this ride... There's some really strong and really good riders in the group. I have no doubt we'll spend plenty of time working skills especially down braille. I've opened the ride up to include you and Michael, so we'll she you both out there.

Thanks David! Cort, thanks for your offer. See you at 8 at the parking, except I'm too tired from my Saturday ride and I need to sleep in. I'll tell you on Saturday.

The plan right now if to ride up from Highland and ride down sawpit, before climbing back up to do braille. That way we can spend more time on braille playing if we want. The second loop is probably going to be slow going w/ lots of stops as we let people try stuff.

Those damn admins at work screwed my weekend up. I'll be stuck at a military base in Arkansas.

Just want to make sure everyone is ready for this ride. It's going to be a long one... and at a fairly fast pace. I haven't ridden with all of you before so make sure this ride is something appropriate for your level.

    May 13, 2013

  • David

I'm going to have to reschedule this ride everyone. I'll send out an email tonight with the details, but long story short my wife has to work the day we were going to celebrate her birthday so now I'm rescheduling it for the 5th.

Being this is a 9/10 for both Physical and Technical ... what is considered an 'advanced' ride then?? I'd imagine anything above 8.

    March 24, 2013

    • Chaz

Thanks for letting me know, and just to be sure this was not a request for advance runs :D

I suppose 1-5 is beginner and 6-10 is intermediate and there is no rating for advance runs? ... Just trying to understand the rating system.

      1 · March 25, 2013

    • David

For sure Chaz, and thanks for asking. I would say 4-6 is somewhat of a gray area though, adv. Beginner maybe. Hope to meet you on a ride soon.

      March 25, 2013

  • Fredric

Yes for now. Hopefully wifey doesn't nix this ride
