David's Wednesday night rides... Fremont Older (Beginner ride)

David's

Wednesday After work Rides

Fremont Older OSP

Let's get out for another weeknight ride out at one of the best real spots for people that want to get in an after work ride.  If you're in the south bay it's pretty easy to get to and features some great fun trails.  The terrain at Fremont Older is not what I would call technical at all, however there are some good climbs.  I'm going to call this a beginner ride so if you're newer to riding come on out.  I'm going to modify our route based on who comes out, but we'll plan to ride up to Maisie's peak then back down to do a seven springs loop.

RIDE RATING:

BEGINNER RIDE: Not too fast and not really technical.  There are some good climbs though so this isn't a walk in the park.

TECH 3/10: The rolling terrain is really well groomed and worn in so there aren't really any surprises here.

PHYS 5/10: The first climb out of the parking lot always seems to get a couple people in the beginning of the season.  So pace your self and don't forget to breath.

6 miles

1000ft gain.

Please remember that our rides require a properly maintained mountain bike and helmet.  If you have questions regarding gear feel free to shoot me an email and I can make suggestions or point you to an expert in your area.

See you out there,

David

So let's try and get an idea of who's who... I know I've got Fred, Dean, Eric, Cary, MikeM and Dave who are all strong riders that will likely do the faster group. Who else? I'm going to have at least one 1st timer with my group that I know about. Any more of you first timers or just starting out?

Oh btw, If Louis rides with the beginners you may have to slow him down on the climbs now that he can clear "Cardiac Hill" on my beginner rides.

I think the big question is if the strong riders can keep up with Mr. "Novice Rider" Cary Casis. and Yes I'll take those that are willing to get the longer distance ride in. Heck who knows, we might be able to squeeze in (2) figure 8 loops.

Ok folks, I added you all off the waitlist to the going list. However we're going to split up the ride into a couple groups. My hopes is that Fred will take the stronger riders ahead of us for an extra toyon loop and maybe some extra footies. The rest of us will take a more relaxed pace to meet them at the top of Maise's Peak. Then we'll head down the trail to the Toyons again. The fast group will head over and do Toyon 3, while the rest of us will do Toyon 2 and 1. That should give them a chance to have space and us a chance to take our time on the down hills.
