Are you relatively new to mountain biking and have been biking for a couple months lately? Have you built up some decent climbing strength? Have you only ridden the exposed trails of the South Bay and longing for more? Well then come out to Demo Forest if you have never done it. This will be focused more towards beginners and we will go rather slow( both up and down) to help our beginner riders be more comfortable with riding flowy trails. The proposed ride will be to park at the entrance on Highland Way, go up Hinh Mill's Road, and then up Sulphur road to the Helipad. We will then go down Ridge Trail and down Tractor Trail at a very comfortable, leisurely pace. We will end up back on the fire road of Hinh's Mill Road.
Remember this ride is not for ABSOLUTE BEGINNERS, this is only for Beginners that feel they have decent climbing endurance, but not too much skillset on the Downhill.
If I get a second organizer to help me out on this one then I will definitely open up the ride to accommodate a larger number of riders in case there's a waiting list.
The entrance to Demo Forest on Highland Way can be found here at these coordinates in case the map link does not work:[masked],[masked]
Directions from San Jose:
Go south on Hwy 17
Exit Summit Road, you will make a loop and you will go right.
Keep Driving down Summit, and you will see Highland Way down a couple of miles
Stay on Highland Way for a couple miles until you get to entrance of Demo Forest.
You will usually see a bunch of cars parked at the entrance to Demo Forest. Look for my Silver Ford Mustang with a Yakima Roof Rack. I'm the relatively tall Filipino guy with a Black Yeti -SB66.
Bring your helmet (cause it's required) and a ton of water since it gets HOT here. Have your bike ride all dialed and ready to go. Bring pads if you feel you need them.
Tires roll at 8:15 am.
